Challenge
N5 runs a multi-client cloud infrastructure across AWS and Azure. The Itaú account lacked observability, making it hard to detect and resolve production incidents. In parallel, costs in the Assegur (Azure/AKS) and CCI accounts were high due to oversized resources and the absence of autoscaling, and stateful services managed inside Kubernetes (Kafka, Redis, RabbitMQ, MongoDB) caused recurring operational issues.
Solution
Craftech implemented full observability with New Relic in Itaú's DEV and PRD accounts (AWS), with real-time visibility into applications, infrastructure and user experience (APM, logs with FluentBit, RUM, synthetic tests and dashboards). In parallel it analyzed and optimized costs in the Assegur (Azure/AKS) and CCI accounts, tuning pod requests/limits and oversized resources, and implemented node autoscaling with Karpenter. It also migrated the self-managed Kafka broker to Amazon MSK and automated QuickSight dashboard deployment versioned in Git.
Results
A 54% cost reduction was achieved in Assegur's QA account through requests/limits optimization and resource tuning. Itaú gained comprehensive observability in DEV and PRD (APM, logs, infra, RUM and real-time alerts), Kafka was successfully migrated to Amazon MSK in DEV removing the broker's operational burden, node autoscaling was enabled with Karpenter, and QuickSight deployment became automated and versioned.
