JVM and database performance assessment for payments fintech D24
D24 is a payments-processing fintech. Craftech supported it on a technical performance assessment funded through AWS Partner Funding, focused on optimizing its Java application layer and its database on AWS.
Challenge
As a latency- and throughput-sensitive payments platform, D24 needed to understand and improve the behavior of its Java application layer and its database: startup times, connection-pool handling, and processing capacity under load.
Solution
Craftech ran a performance assessment of D24's stack on AWS: JVM analysis and tuning, review of the connection pool to the managed MySQL database (RDS), and optimization of startup time and throughput, using New Relic for application observability.
Results
D24 was left with a performance diagnosis of its Java layer and database, and a set of optimization recommendations covering JVM, connection pool, and throughput. The scope was assessment and recommendation; implementing the improvements remained the next step beyond this engagement.
