Oracle→AWS migration PoC and EKS modernization for Universales
Universales is a company in the insurance sector. Craftech ran a proof of concept (PoC) on AWS aimed at evaluating the migration of its Oracle database and the modernization of Java applications toward managed Kubernetes.
Challenge
Universales needed to validate a migration path for its Oracle database to AWS and evaluate modernizing its Java stack on Kubernetes, including hybrid-node scenarios to integrate on-premise capacity with the cloud. The PoC's goal was to reduce technical uncertainty ahead of a larger migration project.
Solution
Craftech built a proof of concept on AWS based on EKS with hybrid nodes (EKS Hybrid Nodes) and evaluated data migration from Oracle using AWS DMS. The work covered the Java/Kubernetes stack survey and produced a roadmap of next steps for a real Oracle-to-AWS migration and application modernization.
Results
The PoC validated the Oracle→AWS migration approach and delivered a concrete roadmap of next steps toward modernizing the Java stack on EKS. The project's 25 tickets were all closed, with a clean execution and no recorded conflicts; the relationship closed after the PoC phase.
