Oracle→AWS migration PoC and EKS modernization for Universales
Universales is an insurance company from Guatemala. Craftech ran a proof of concept (PoC) on AWS aimed at evaluating the migration of its Oracle database and the modernization of Java applications toward managed Kubernetes, reducing technical uncertainty ahead of a larger-scale project.
Challenge
Universales needed to validate a migration path for its Oracle database to AWS and evaluate modernizing its Java stack on Kubernetes, including hybrid-node scenarios to integrate on-premise capacity with the cloud. The PoC's goal was to reduce technical uncertainty ahead of a larger migration project.
Solution
Craftech built a proof of concept on AWS based on EKS with hybrid nodes (EKS Hybrid Nodes) and evaluated data migration from Oracle using AWS DMS. The work included an assessment of the Java/Kubernetes stack and produced a roadmap of next steps for a real Oracle-to-AWS migration and application modernization.
Results
The PoC validated the Oracle→AWS migration approach and delivered a concrete roadmap of next steps toward modernizing the Java stack on EKS. The validation ran cleanly and left Universales with a clear, well-supported technical path to tackle the larger-scale migration.
