A cloud-native foundation on AWS/EKS for UALI: DevOps culture from scratch and 100% automated integration and delivery

Craftech designed, together with UALI, an AWS cloud architecture built to sustain its growth without major future migrations, and supported the company in adopting a DevOps culture.

Challenge
UALI was booming: it had a clear vision, plan and growth strategy, but lacked the infrastructure and automation needed to develop at the pace its business demanded. It needed to adopt a DevOps culture at the right moment —before scaling— so it could start from a solid base and agile development models that would spare it major migrations down the line.
Solution
Craftech worked with the UALI team to define a new cloud architecture, segmenting environments into EKS clusters following the SDLC model. It fully automated the CI/CD processes to comply with the flows defined during design, audited the dockerization of the applications using best practices, and created the resources for local development environments. It implemented monitoring and alerting systems to know the state of the services and act proactively on issues, and delivered training and documentation to UALI's DevOps team so it could operate the platform autonomously.
Results
UALI reached 100% automation across its application integration and delivery, monitoring and log analysis processes. It was left with a new multi-account stack able to meet its scaling needs and —most importantly— it internalized the DevOps culture: it now has an independent, reliable DevOps team capable of evolving the platform on its own.
