Ruby on Rails application deployment on AWS (EC2 + RDS + ALB) for Swappi
Swappi is a Colombian food and sustainability company. In a short AWS-funded project (May-June 2025), Craftech deployed its Ruby on Rails application on AWS over EC2, RDS and a load balancer.
Challenge
Swappi needed to move its Ruby on Rails application onto reliable production infrastructure on AWS, with a managed database and load balancing, within a tight timeframe.
Solution
In about one week, Craftech deployed Swappi's Ruby on Rails application on AWS: compute on EC2, database on RDS (PostgreSQL), caching with Redis and traffic distribution with an Application Load Balancer.
Results
Swappi was left with its application running on AWS over EC2 + RDS + ALB after a one-week, 100% AWS-funded deployment. The infrastructure likely remained active with no formal follow-on support; it stands as a base for an eventual MSP package of monitoring and backups.
