Challenge
Simetrik had dozens of services running on AWS ECS (originally 49, later 58) and needed to modernize its container platform to Kubernetes to gain control, scalability and simpler operations. It required three separate environments (DEV, CROSS and PRD), GitOps-integrated CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code and centralized observability — all without disrupting production and complying with the AWS Well-Architected Framework.
Solution
Craftech designed and implemented Simetrik's new container platform on Kubernetes in AWS, replacing ECS with EKS clusters across all environments. It automated continuous delivery with ArgoCD (GitOps), modernized the delivery pipelines in Harness and shipped a complete observability stack (Prometheus, Grafana Alloy, Loki, Grafana). It also added cost-optimization strategies: nightly shutdown of non-prod environments, Spot instances and EKS Auto Mode, with IaC in Terraform/Terragrunt and Atlantis for change governance.
Results
58 applications were migrated to EKS and running in production (9 more than initially planned), with the full production infrastructure delivered in ~3 months and client sign-off. It left an automated CI/CD with ArgoCD active across the whole platform (DEV + PRD), a production observability stack and all three environments (DEV, CROSS, PRD) with account separation and Well-Architected practices, positioning the organization to execute the final production-traffic migration on its own.
