SIDOM: hybrid AWS + on-premise platform with multi-environment EKS, full observability and high availability
SIDOM is a growing Argentine foreign-trade startup with a highly complex platform built on PHP and Kubernetes. It runs a hybrid environment —EKS on AWS plus on-premise infrastructure— across multiple environments (Production, UAT, Development, Shared and Test). Craftech has been its platform team since 2024.
Challenge
SIDOM needed to operate and evolve a demanding hybrid platform: Kubernetes clusters across several environments on AWS coexisting with on-premise infrastructure, with full observability, high availability of critical components, reliable storage and consistent alerting across both worlds. The stack's complexity and activity volume called for a dedicated team.
Solution
Craftech operates SIDOM's hybrid platform as a managed service. It deployed full observability across AWS and on-premise (Grafana, Loki, Alloy, Prometheus), implemented AlertHub and replicated critical on-premise alerts into AWS with Slack notifications and a per-alert runbook link. It hardened high availability of key components (Kube-VIP, Traefik in HA), strengthened storage (storage classes, LongHorn testing for Loki/Prometheus/MongoDB, Thanos and PVC cleanup freeing resources) and tidied up security (EKS IAM policies, per-service Secrets Manager scheme). In parallel it runs capacity and EKS-upgrade analysis on production, cost control and troubleshooting documentation.
Results
SIDOM has an end-to-end instrumented hybrid AWS + on-premise platform: unified observability, critical alerts replicated and actionable across both environments, high-availability networking components, and cleaner, more predictable storage after PVC rightsizing and the removal of redundant stacks. The operation is documented with tidy IAM and secrets security, sustaining a relationship of more than two years with high work density.
