Kubernetes platform with a service mesh and GitOps for Rexmas, with no in-house DevOps team
Rexmas is a Chilean HR Tech company. Craftech operated its platform on AWS over a roughly nine-month engagement in 2024, acting as its Kubernetes infrastructure team while the company had no DevOps function of its own.
Challenge
Rexmas needed to run a microservices platform on Kubernetes without an internal platform team, keeping deployments consistent, costs observable, and inter-service communication secure. The complexity of the stack — service mesh, GitOps, and autoscaling — called for dedicated expertise the company did not have in-house.
Solution
Craftech managed the platform on Amazon EKS with a GitOps approach: declarative deployments with ArgoCD, inter-service communication through a service mesh (Linkerd), node autoscaling with Karpenter, and cost and consumption observability at the cluster level with Prometheus and Kubecost. The scope grew alongside the client's needs throughout the engagement.
Results
Rexmas ran its microservices platform on a standardized Kubernetes foundation with reproducible GitOps deployments, secure service-to-service communication via a service mesh, and cluster-level cost visibility. The scope of service grew steadily over the engagement, reflecting the client's technical reliance on the Craftech team.
