Craftech moves Flow's payment platform to a cloud-native model on AWS
Flow is a Chilean online payment gateway operating in Chile, Mexico and Peru, PCI DSS certified and listed in the Visa Global Registry. It processes card payments, transfers, payment links, subscriptions and a REST API: a transaction-critical platform in the middle of regional expansion.
Challenge
Flow ran on infrastructure with no containerization, no automated CI/CD pipelines and no AWS accounts separated by environment. For a payment gateway expanding across the region, that was a bottleneck: manual, risky deploys, limited observability and infrastructure not ready to scale or to sustain the security standards the fintech business demands. The internal team didn't have the capacity to take on a modernization of this scale without disrupting operations.
Solution
Craftech took Flow's infrastructure and moved it to a cloud-native model on AWS. The platform's seven microservices were containerized and deployed on Amazon EKS, with separated environments (DEV / SHARED / PRD) across three AWS accounts with VPC peering. Full CI/CD was implemented with GitLab and continuous delivery via ArgoCD, eliminating manual deploys, and all infrastructure was managed as code (Terraform + Terragrunt) with a pull-request GitOps flow. A complete observability stack was added, and Flow's team was trained to operate autonomously.
Results
Flow got a fully operational cloud-native platform on AWS in 4 months. It went from manual deploys to a continuous, automated delivery cycle, with all services containerized on Kubernetes and managed through GitOps. The team gained full visibility with centralized metrics, logs and dashboards; environment separation and Infrastructure as Code reduced operational risk and laid the foundation for regional growth. By project close, Flow's team was trained and documented to operate on its own.
