Success Story
Standardizing and modernizing the cloud infrastructure of a financial-planning fintech
Coinscrap is a Fintech/Insurtech company that provides financial-planning microservices to banks and insurers, extending their value proposition and creating new business models from the analysis of their users' data.
Challenge
Although a DevOps culture already existed at Coinscrap, there were things to improve: technologies not always suited to the use case, no standard for deploying new projects, and unmanaged services (docker-compose on EC2, kOps with databases persisted on volumes inside a self-managed cluster). This created a high demand for cloud staff to maintain services, with no infrastructure state in code and no traceability over resource deployment.
Solution
Craftech segmented the organization's AWS accounts and environments in terms of networking and user security, deployed EKS clusters, installed observability and resource-management tooling, defined the workflow and progressively migrated microservices deploying them with Helm charts. New continuous-delivery pipelines were created, plus a complete logging and monitoring stack and reference documentation for the Coinscrap team, applying the AWS Well-Architected Framework pillars.
Results
New applications were deployed and existing ones migrated to the new infrastructure, in both production and lower environments. The way of deploying applications was standardized and, with infrastructure now backed by its code, state and documentation, Coinscrap gained greater traceability and the ability to deploy new infrastructure easily by reusing code.
